| 1915 | Born Blackheath, London. |
| 1926 | Colfe's Grammar School. |
| 1934 | Articled
pupil to Surveyors, Land and Estate Agents. College of Estate Management (London University). |
| 1940 | Qualified as Chartered Surveyor and joined the family business. Elected a Fellow (F.R.I.C.S.) in 1957. Despite commitment to this professional career, from 1930 onwards closely involved as a student of music. |
| 1940 | Conscripted into the Army, August. |
| 1944 | Invalided from the Army. Rejoined family business. |
| 1944 | In addition to professional work as a Surveyor, became a music critic on the London News Chronicle and wrote much other music criticism. |
| 1948 | Elected Member of the Critics' Circle, Music Section, and is now an Honorary Member. First of regular visits to Dorset in this year and developed a close association with the area, walking and taking photographs. |
| 1956 | Ceased regular work for the News Chronicle but continued as a freelance critic. Renewed interest in painting. |
| 1958 | Part-time residence near the Dorset-Wiltshire border. |
| 1963 | First visit to Cornwall and commencement of association with Cornish-based painters. |
| 1970 | Commenced to show work at the St.Ives Penwith Gallery. Associate member of Penwith Society of Arts. |
| 1973 | Commenced to show work at the Newlyn Art Gallery. Elected full member of the Newlyn Society of Artists. |
| 1975 | Three man show with John Wells and Alexander Mackenzie at the Orion Gallery, Penzance. |

| 1981 | Retrospective
exhibition (1960-1981) at Newlyn Art Gallery. Took part in the exhibition "Kunst aus Cornwall" held at the Galerie Artica, Cuxhaven, Germany. Moved from London to live in Wiltshire. |
| 1983 | Through the Michael Parkin Gallery showed work in London, Bath and Chicago Art Fairs. |
| 1984 | Gallerie Artica at the invitation of Cuxhaven Town Council, and in 1987 contributed to that Gallery's 20th Anniversary Exhibition. |
